Membership
$35/year; calendar membership year; dues are to be paid at the outset of the membership, not prorated, then January 1 of each new year.
Member benefits/duties --
Action-oriented organization offers its membership –
Bobwhite Quail Management Plan by Audubon Texas for requesting member’s property. Similar plans are available from other sources, e.g., NRCS, USFW, TPWD, etc., and WHF will accord them same status as Audubon Texas’ plans
Monitor Landowners’ activities via area map, data file, etc.
Members are expected to be active on his/her owned or managed land capable of quail population
Graduated landowner goals and recognition
Conservationist – 1) Qualified Conservation Plan (QCP) must be prepared by conservation organization, such as Audubon Texas, NRCS, USFW, TPWD, or qualified landowner, or qualified professional
AND
2) implementation by Landowner of 4 or more habitat improvements, such as herbicide application, disking, planting and/or restoring native grasses, mechanical brush or cedar clearing, prescribed burns, controlled cattle grazing on Member’s land.
Master Conservationist – Same as above PLUS 2 or more habitat improvements spanning 3 years, AND 2) implements at least one type of census (such as spring whistle count or fall morning covey call) or quail population assessment, e.g., Texas Quail Index – see protocols at http://teamquail.tamu.edu, to monitor quail response to conservation efforts and results must be submitted to WHF.

Must be WHF Member to qualify for WHF sign
Graduated landowner goals and recognition may be set forth on sign (strip attached at bottom of sign), as earned, e.g., Member on all signs, but Apprentice Conservationist, Conservationist, and Master Conservationist strip must be obtained from WHF and may be attached to sign only as above goals are accomplished.
