Meet Our Team

Garry Stephens
President & CEO

Serving WHF in a leadership role since 2016, Garry works closely with landowners, local governments and partner organizations to optimize the benefits of conservation management and restoration of wildlife habitats. Prior to joining WHF, Garry served the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for nearly 30 years, both as a district conservationist, responsible for all conservation programs within a 4-county area, as well as a wildlife biologist for a 52-county work area in south Texas. He has managed working lands in Texas and Arkansas for wildlife and livestock interests. Garry represents WHF on the NRCS State Technical Advisory Committee to the state conservationist, is a member of the NRCS State Technical Committee Wildlife sub-committee, and serves on the Audubon Texas Conservation Ranching Committee advisory committee. He holds a BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University.

Gretta Sleeper
Chief Administrative Officer

Gretta manages all administrative and financial operations for WHF. Since 2013, she has directed information technology accounting for the organization, integrating all outreach and data tracking of conservation activities. Gretta administers project budgets and funding for all private, state, and federal awards as well as on-the-ground project implementation. Prior to joining WHF, she led accounting and wildlife management of a 600-acre horse and livestock ranch for 26 years. Gretta holds a BS in Chemistry from Fort Lewis College.

Anne Vance
Chief Development Officer

Anne specializes in the engagement and stewardship of donors and partners with the mission of WHF. She previously held fundraising management roles at the global nonprofit Textile Exchange and at Memorial Park Conservancy, working alongside professionals dedicated to restoring biodiversity in Houston’s 1,500-acre wilderness park. Anne is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and an advocate for connecting people with opportunities to protect and preserve our shared environments, for all people. She holds a BA in Anthropology and Film Studies from the University of Kansas.

Coleman Stilwell
Conservationist

Coleman plans, inventories, implements, monitors, and accelerates conservation programs as part of WHF’s NRCS Texas Conservation Program Agreement. His work helps historically underserved and small acreage landowners in portions of the five counties that lie within the Colorado River watershed (Blanco, Burnet, Hays, Llano, and Travis), and benefits aquatic species in the lower Colorado, Brazos, and San Bernard River systems. Prior to joining WHF, Coleman served as a soil conservationist with NRCS and brings practical experience in fisheries biology and wildlife conservation biology. Coleman’s experience in soil, water, and livestock/wildlife stewardship brings landowners a comprehensive approach to their conservation planning efforts. He holds a BS in Natural Resource Management from Texas Tech University.

Sky Rhea
Schyler Rhea
Conservationist

Schyler plans, inventories, implements, monitors and accelerates conservation planning efforts in the upper Texas Gulf Coast region, with a focus on the greater Houston area. Prior to joining WHF, she assisted with habitat management at Coastal Prairie Conservancy, managed natural areas as conservation intern with Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and participated in habitat conservation along riparian corridors and related Monarch butterfly pathways as an intern with the City of San Marcos. Schyler holds a PSM in Environmental Sustainability and Natural Resource Management from Texas Tech University and a BGS in Nature and Heritage Tourism, Animal Science, and Criminal Justice from Texas State University.

Kayla Sustaita
Conservationist

Kayla plans, inventories, implements, monitors and accelerates conservation planning efforts in the upper Texas Gulf Coast region as part of WHF’s Texas Coastal Prairie Initiative (TCPI) Agreement with the Coastal Prairie Conservancy. Prior to joining WHF, Kayla was a bilingual environmental educator for the City of Edinburg in Hidalgo County, an environmental consultant helping clients balance the stewardship of natural resources and growth of infrastructure via environmental compliance and monitoring in Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy, and Starr Counties. Kayla holds a B.S. in Rangeland & Wildlife Management from Texas A&M University Kingsville. Kayla has conducted research on forage yields in response to varying resting intervals in central Texas and is working towards her M.S. degree in Population and Conservation Biology.

Aly Foreman
Conservationist

Aly is a native Texan from a multi-generational farm and ranch family who has resided in the DFW-Metroplex for over thirty years. As a Texas Master Naturalist with a Master’s degree in Ecology and Environmental Sustainability and Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Nutrition, Aly’s conservation related work has focused on restoring ecosystems and native/natural habitats, sustainable agriculture practices, community and corporate sustainability and zero-waste consulting, environmental advocacy, and empowering stakeholders through education. She is excited to focus on landowner conservation efforts in DFW and surrounding areas and expand on efforts for a greener future!

Jared Schlottman
Conservationist

Prior to joining WHF, Jared was a conservation education specialist for Texas Wildlife Association. In this role, Jared conducted workshops, seminars, and field days designed to assist private landowners in achieving their wildlife habitat management goals. He also spent time working for the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute as a program specialist integrating academic research into practical land management practices. Jared holds a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science and a master’s degree in Rangeland, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management, both from Texas A&M University. His master’s thesis research involved upland game bird ecology and management with a special focus on reestablishing Northern Bobwhite in areas of extirpation.

Shelby Bessette
Conservationist

Shelby plans, coordinates, and supports conservation and habitat initiatives for WHF, with an emphasis on wildlife habitat management, land stewardship, and conservation outreach in the coastal bend and south Texas. Prior to joining WHF, she worked in environmental education and applied conservation, collaborating with landowners, agency partners, and nonprofit organizations on habitat restoration, wildlife management, and grant-supported conservation projects. Shelby holds a M.P.A. and M.S. in Biology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and brings a strong background in birding, wildlife conservation, and community-based natural resource stewardship to WHF’s work.

Katy Hoskins
Conservationist

Katy is a life-long rancher and active in the Southern Rolling Plains Grazing Lands Coalition and the Texas Section Society for Range Management. She has a B.S. in Rangeland Ecology from Texas A&M and a M.Ed. from Sul Ross State. Katy lives in Nolan County with her husband and family, and is currently the director of Youth Range Workshop 2, an advanced workshop for high school students interested in land stewardship.

Natalie Wolff
Conservationist

Natalie is a lifelong upland enthusiast and conservation professional dedicated to improving quail and native habitats and strengthening working agricultural lands across Texas. With 20+ years in conservation delivery — including service with USDA-NRCS and nonprofit executive leadership through Texas Brigades — she brings field-driven habitat expertise and a trusted voice within conservation communities. She works alongside landowners, agencies, peers, and volunteers to champion the landscapes we all depend on, guided by her belief that conservation is both her mission and her way of life. Natalie lives in Nolan County with her family and bird dogs, where the outdoors continues to fuel her purpose and her work.

Faith Chase
Conservationist

Faith works at every stage of conservation – from planning and implementation to monitoring and long-term impact advancing practical, land-based conservation efforts that improve soil health, water quality and wildlife habitat. She brings hands-on experience from cattle and hay operations, watershed planning, and conservation outreach, working directly with landowners and partners to support sustainable land use. As a co-owner and operator of BFC Cattle & Buddy’s Hay Service, she is part of a three-man hay production team and co-manages cattle on 140 acres outside Sealy, Texas. Her professional experience includes partnering with agencies such as Texas Parks and Wildlife, Natural Resource Conservation Service, AgriLife, Soil and Water Conservation Districts and other wildlife organizations – most notably while serving as a 319 District Technician for the Mill Creek watershed with the Austin County Soil and Water Conservation District. She holds an M.S. in Ecosystem Science and Management from Texas A&M University and a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Texas State University. Outside of work, Faith spends her time with her husband and three young children.
