Small Acreage Big Opportunity 2023 Comal County
Since 2020, the Small Acreage – Big Opportunity (SABO) program has strived to provide info to historically underserved and small-acreage landowners. This year’s first SABO for Comal County will be a half-day workshop held on Thurs, Sept 21, 2023, from 12 noon to 5 pm at the Texas Wildlife Association Headquarters in New Braunfels.
Landowners who steward small properties face unique management challenges. Most information currently available to landowners focuses on the management of large properties. Statewide, small properties are increasing, but it may be challenging for the owners of these properties to scale down big recommendations to fit a smaller acreage.
The Small Acreage – Big Opportunity (SABO) program is a joint effort of Texas Wildlife Association and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension to address this need. The intensive one-day workshops teach landowners how to evaluate their property’s habitat and what options are available for wildlife management, including cost-share programs. Perhaps most importantly, we connect landowners with local professionals who can walk alongside them as they steward and learn about their lands.
