American Beautyberry
0 Comment
American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana) is a native shrub that grows in woody areas. It grows in shaded areas and makes an excellent food source for white-tailed deer and a variety of birds. The berries usually grow in fall and winter but can grow earlier in wet years. Its berries are usually purple but can be white as well. If you are looking for shade-loving shrubs to add to your wildlife conservation project, this is an excellent choice.
We came across a rare white berried plant while on a site visit in Caldwell County earlier last month.
