Dr. Dale Rollins Joins WHF as Advisory Board Member

Cat Spring, TX – June 9, 2025 – The Wildlife Habitat Federation (WHF) is thrilled to announce that Dr. Dale Rollins has joined its Board of Trustees as an Advisory Board Member. With a distinguished career in wildlife conservation and education, Dr. Rollins brings unparalleled expertise and a deep commitment to advancing WHF’s mission of conserving and restoring habitats across Texas.

Dr. Rollins, a renowned wildlife specialist, has dedicated over three decades to wildlife management and research, particularly in quail ecology. He served as a professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in San Angelo from 1987 until his retirement. During his tenure, he also held a research appointment at Texas A&M University and served as the Executive Director of the Rolling Plains Quail Research Foundation since its inception in 2007.

Dr. Rollins is perhaps best known for founding the Texas Brigades, a youth education program launched in 1993 with the Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade. This initiative has grown into a statewide network of summer camps fostering leadership and conservation knowledge among young stewards, now replicated in five other states.

“Dr. Rollins’ expertise and passion for wildlife conservation make him an invaluable addition to our Advisory Board,” said Garry Stephens, President/CEO of WHF. “His leadership in habitat management and youth education aligns perfectly with our goal to promote sustainable land stewardship and preserve Texas’ natural heritage for future generations.”

In his role as an Advisory Board Member, Dr. Rollins will provide strategic guidance on WHF’s conservation initiatives, including habitat restoration projects and partnerships with landowners, agencies, and organizations. His extensive experience in working land management and his dedication to fostering the next generation of conservationists will help strengthen WHF’s impact across the state.

“I’m honored to join WHF and contribute to its vital work in conserving Texas’ ecosystems,” said Dr. Rollins. “I look forward to collaborating with the team to enhance habitat conservation efforts and inspire others to engage in sustainable land management.”

Dr. Rollins holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, a master’s degree in wildlife ecology from Oklahoma State University, and a Ph.D. in range management from Texas Tech University. His contributions to conservation have been recognized through numerous accolades, including his induction into the Texas Conservation Hall of Fame in 2018 by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
