Hidden Territory Farm

Congratulations, Cee Cee and David Parker of Hidden Territory Farm!

The Parker’s have recently been recognized with the Texan by Nature Project Certification. This certification provides individuals with recognition of their meaningful conservation efforts involving and benefiting people, prosperity, and natural resources.

Cee Cee, a Wildlife Habitat Federation Board of Trustees member, and her family have created 31 acres of wildlife habitat in the ever-growing Sugar Land area. High five and congratulations!

Shortly after David and Cee Cee Parker purchased Hidden Territory Farm in 2006, they noticed nesting red-tailed hawks, a herd of deer, and other wildlife thriving on the land. Upon the realization that some species had nowhere to go because of surrounding development, the Parkers slowly began improving the property for wildlife. To help restore native habitat characteristic of the Gulf Prairies and Marshes ecoregion, they seeded a portion of the property with native prairie plants and drill seeded (mechanically created openings in the soil and planted seeds at a uniform rate using a seed driller) about 4 acres. They also cleared all trash and created a pond from existing holes to provide a reliable water source for wildlife.

The Parkers have also improved Hidden Territory Farm through wildlife stewardship and partnerships. They have raised and released over 200 native red-eared sliders and 60 native box turtles that were all hatched on the property. Through a partnership with Wildlife Habitat Federation, a Texan by Nature Conservation Partner, Hidden Territory Farm has a written wildlife management plan to provide bluebird habitat, increase forage for a large resident white-tailed deer herd, and establish native plants for wildlife benefit. Additionally, Hidden Territory Farm recently received a small grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation for wildflower seeding.
